A New Perspective for Sasha, A Model for Uganda

A New Perspective for Sasha, A Model for Uganda

In June 2025, Princess Sasha, a young girl with cerebral palsy, received a specially designed chair from the Kyazinam Foundation in Uganda. This transformative act elevated her world, granting new independence and a literal new perspective. For the foundation, this moment is central to its mission of breaking poverty cycles through Early Childhood Development. The chair is a tool of empowerment, investing in Sasha’s human capital and affirming her right to belong, learn, and engage.

Sasha’s story aligns with Uganda’s National Development Plan (NDPIV), which prioritizes inclusive growth. It also confronts daunting national statistics, such as high school dropout and child stunting rates. This also directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Health) by aiding her physical development, SDG 4 (Education) by enabling learning, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring her inclusion.

The foundation’s work at the Capital Centre Medical Clinic and Polenum Centre for children with special needs mirrors its broader support for single mothers and widows, empowering entire families. Princess Sasha, now seated at the table of opportunity, symbolizes a foundational principle: transforming a nation requires building it one child, one family, at a time.
